My Reflection

I have thoroughly enjoyed this term. I have adapted well to the independence this module has given us, and while I was rather ill throughout the term, feel that the work I have produced is definitely my best yet. I have found that my writing up a work schedule, and sticking to a strict structure around the work, helps me to stay focussed and allows me to work efficiently and productively. I have realised this past year through the course that I work much better individually as I generally can be persuaded easily to go with someone else’s ideas and not my own, leaving me frustrated and a little disappointed I wasn’t more forceful. This year, however, I feel that I have been able to understand my own attitudes to work, and my boundaries in terms of how challenging I’d like my work to be.
I felt that it was easy for me to pick a fashion brand as the one I chose I had been passionate about for a long time and felt that I would have been able to research the brand without becoming bored or tired of it. I also felt that there was a lot of scope in terms of the brand extension and the ways in which I could take it from A to B.
The difficulties I did find, however, due to my illness throughout this academic year and at the end of last, I had of course missed key important lectures therefore wasn’t entirely confident in my understanding of the topics covered in this essay. This, I realise will have an adverse effect on my essay, and whilst I did read through the notes on Blackboard, there is no substitute for actually being in lessons to take it all in I have come to find out.
The most difficult part of this module was the 30 second advert. My concept, and my initial ideas, I feel, fitted in with the overall theme of the brand, however it is extremely difficult to actually relate this into real life film.
I feel, in order to improve upon my work I’d have very much liked to start the course over. However, working with what I have got, and persevering through the course has made me feel extremely proud of myself for pushing through. If I was to do this module again, I feel I would have got a bit more professional help with the advert, just to polish it over a little. I would not change the brand I have chosen, as I have thoroughly enjoyed basing my work on Vivienne Westwood, and feel that the brand has strong representation and am hoping I have done the brand justice.
Hopefully all I have accomplished within this module, and indeed within these past few years will prepare me for the workplace and I look forward to the next chapter of my life as this one ends.

My garden of Eden music!!!

Vivienne Westwood Children's Shoes

I should probably mention that Vivienne Westwood do children's shoes. They're super sweet and just mini versions of their 'Melissa' collaborations!!

Why I think Childrenswear may work for VW

It is pretty much one of the only extensions they haven't developed. Womenswear, Menswear, Shoes, Jewellery, Handbags and Perfume are amongst the things that VW does at the moment. I think childrenswear could be cute!!! The prince charming tshirt (see below) remind me of children's scribbles and it's inspired me to rework the Vivienne Westwood emblem! I'll try it out and see if it looks good enough to upload...

An Unedited Version- please ignore the talking at the end

This is my advert's unedited version. This is the only video I'm going to post as I'd like to compare this to the edited version! Enjoy- and ignore the talking

My Video

The overall jist of my video is cute children in the garden of Eden playing. They are picking up red apples and generally there is an aura of peace and tranquility. Along comes the childlike version of Vivienne Westwood and totally shakes things up!! I will post unedited footage asap

Other Designer Childrenswear

Armani Junior

Hugo BOSS Kidswear

D&G

Stella McCartney

Ralph Lauren

Fendi

This just goes to show that a brand extension like childrenswear is marketable, profitable and reasonable!!!
